DIVERCINE
20 years!
Divercine is the International Film Festival for Kids and Youths which from
1991 works from Montevideo headquarters and then it gets exported to the rest
of Latin America.
2011 is Divercine´s 20th birthday, that means that for a long time this
festival has been playing a big part on children´s diversity supply;
offering quality productions with worldwide aesthetics and narratives. This
diversity offer is of primary importance as for develop any reality concept,
moreover talking about kids, who are starting to watch films, who are starting
to know their world.
Each year Divercine presents about 100 titles from 30 countries, a strict
selection from many films previously rewarded in other important festivals.
There are also, from the beginning, TV programs selected by experts, and films
made by children from all over the world.
This year Jury will be set by Michel Bohler, from Perú, Alejandro Rojas,
from Chile, Aldana Duhalde, from Argentina and Angélica dos Santos,
from Brazil, besides the SIGNIS Jury, the Plan Deni´s Jury ( kids from
this institution), and the children´s audience who votes and chooses
the Audience Award. This year the ¨Gurí¨ Grand Prize will start
to be represented by a new special object, matching with Divercine´s
image, as a celebration for these 20 years.
Since last year Divercine headquarters are at Sala Héctor Tosar from
the SODRE, at Montevideo´s main Street; a comfortable auditorium with
quality screening conditions. There it happen all Divercine´s activities,
with many gifts for the children, the second winter hollday´s week,
from 4th to 9th July.
It´s good to emphasize that this is a team work, where each one plays
its role professionally, translating texts, offering their voices to make
the voice over, designing the poster, reporting the media, editing the videos
for the screening, screening at the auditorium or composing a film programme
which respects the kid as a thinking and sensitive being.

Acuerdo entre el SCTVF y DIVERCINE
Muchas veces pensamos en China como un país lejano, un país
continente difícil de acceder. Y la realidad nos sorprende una vez
más. Es cierto que las distancias en quilómetros son tan enormes
como ese país, las culturales también, pero cuando hay buena
voluntad e intenciones de colaborar en áreas específicas de
nuestro trabajo vemos que se puede. En este caso se puede generar un espacio
de comunicación e intercambio entre este festival colega y nosotros,
abonado por la idea que tenemos muchas buenas cosas para intercambiar. Parece
insólito que un país tan pequeño como Uruguay colabore
con uno tan grande como China, sin embargo hay mucho por hacer, sobre todo
para vencer prejuicios y avanzar en la creación de lazos culturales
positivos, atentos a los cambios del Siglo XXI.

DIVERCINE 2009
El XVIII Festival Internacional de Cine para Niños y Jóvenes
del Uruguay, DIVERCINE 2009, que se realizará en Montevideo entre el
29 de junio y el 12 de julio próximos, en la Sala Zitarrosa, después
de Cantacuentos, presenta las mejores películas del mundo para público
menudo.
Llegaron obras de
Alemania, Argentina, Bélgica, Bolivia, Brasil, Canadá, Colombia,
Cuba, Chile, Dinamarca, Escocia, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Holanda,
Hungría, Irlanda, Islandia, Japón, Letonia, México, Portugal,
Puerto Rico, Reino Unido, Rusia, Sri Lanka, Suecia, Uruguay y Venezuela.
Algunas de las obras presentadas ya obtuvieron premios en festivales internacionales
de primer nivel como Berlín, Ámsterdam, Chicago o Río
de Janeiro, tanto premios de jurados de expertos en programación para
niños como jurados integrados por niños y adolescentes.
La programación de DIVERCINE, 100 obras de corto y largometraje de
27 países, 21 horas que serán presentadas junto con la información
que corresponde a cada título en el Catálogo del festival, para
disfrute de niños entre 3 y 15 años. Divercine cuenta con los
auspicios de UNICEF, UNESCO, Ministerio de Educción y Cultura y su
Instituto de Cine y Audiovisual de Uruguay, Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores,
Intendencia Municipal de Montevideo, Plan DENI y SIGNIS-OCIC. Un Festival
que tiene gran reconocimiento a nivel internacional, pensemos solamente que
también se exhibe en ciudades como Asunción del Paraguay, Guadalajara,
San Juan de Puerto Rico, Quito, Lima, Santiago de Chile, Managua, Tegucigalpa,
Córdoba, Mar del Plata y Mendoza acercando un material que normalmente
no llega a nuestras pantallas comerciales, tanto de cine como de Televisión.
Son tres horas y media por día, con películas diferentes cada
día, comenzando con una hora de cortos para niños a partir de
3 años, luego una hora más de cortos y mediometrajes a partir
de 6 años, para terminar el día con un largometraje que generalmente
es recomendado a partir de 6 años, aunque cada título tiene
su calificación. Estas tres funciones se presentan en régimen
de Continuado, es decir que con una entrada se pueden quedar toda la tarde
en Divercine.

DIVERCINE
2009
The XVIIIth Internacional Uruguayan Film Festival for Children and Teen-agers,
DIVERCINE 2009, to be held in Montevideo between the 29th June and the 12th
July 2009 in the Sala Zitarrosa theatre, following the Cantacuentos musical
play, presents the best films in the world for the small folk.
We have received
films from Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Chile,
Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia,
Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Sweden,
United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Some of the works presented
have already obtained awards in some of the most important international festivals
such as Berlin, Amsterdam, Chicago or Rio de Janeiro, both in the category
of juries specialized in children's programs and in those including children
and adolescents in the jury.
The DIVERCINE program, with
100 short and long feature films from 27 countries, with 21 hours, that will
include information for each title in the festival catalogue, for the enjoyment
of children from 3 to 15 years of age. Divercine is sponsored UNICEF, UNESCO,
the Ministry of Education and Culture (together with the Cinema and Audiovisual
Institute of Uruguay), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Montevideo City Authorities,
Plan DENI and SIGNIS-OCIC. This Festival has been widely acknowledged abroad,
and we should recall it is also exhibited in cities such as Asuncion del Paraguay,
Guadalajara, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Quito, Lima, Santiago de Chile, Managua,
Tegucigalpa, Cordoba, Mar del Plata and Mendoza, and in this manner distributes
material that doesn't usually reach our commercial cinema or television screens.
We are speaking of three
and a half hours per day, with different films every day starting with an
hour of short feature films for children over three years of age followed
by one hour of short and medium length feature films for children over six
years, and ending with a long feature film generally recommended for children
over six (although every title is duly qualified). These three showing are
presented according to a continual regime; in other words, a single ticket
may be used for the whole afternoon in Divercine.

Premios
internacionales para DIVERCINE
Divercine llegó a su madurez, 18 años no es nada pero para un
festival internacional de cine y TV para niños, en Uruguay y en cualquier
parte de este complicado mundo, es algo. Y los reconocimientos internacionales
hace un rato que están llegando a este modestísimo emprendimieito
que llega a muchos niños en Montevideo y varias ciudades de América
Latina. Los premios no son más que eso, reconocimiento a un trabajo
serio y constante para mejorar lo que ven los niños y jóvenes,
un aliciente a seguir y mejorar el proyecto todo lo que podamos. Gracias a
los colegas que se acordaron de nosotros y gracias al público que es
el sustento de todo lo bueno que puede ocurrir.
